I qualified from Edinburgh University and pursued a career in Paedatrics & Child Health with positions in Scotland and New Zealand. More recently, I have also worked in a research capacity within the Vaccine Trials Group, Perth, Western Australia. I recently completed my postgraduate paediatric training and am commencing a senior research fellow post within the University of Dundee with a view to further developing my research interest in child public health. It is my intention to continue my clinical work as an honorary consultant paediatrician within NHS Tayside.
My interest in issues relating to child public health has led to involvement in a number of research areas including: childhood obesity, health informatics and the use of routinely collected data; vaccine trials and community surveillance; and engaging the public in epidemiological research.
I am an active member of the Child Health undergraduate teaching committee with regular undergraduate teaching commitments throughout the academic year.
