Brief Abstract
The importance of collaborative working practices and effective communication in
facilitating effective transition to school is recognised. In Scotland, The Early Years
Framework emphasises the integral role of parents to a preventative and early
intervention strategy. This investigation set out to identify features of effective transition practice considered against the features of effective transition practice in the Framework and international research on transition practices. Although framed within the Scottish policy context, the findings will be of wider interest to academics, policy makers and practitioners.
