Description

Research led, guest lecturer, Alex Roberts delivered an international, in person painting course, Free Your Painting at Bauhaus Summer School, Bauhaus-Universität Weimar. Aimed at the painter, fine art student or individual who employs paint as part of their wider creative practice (i.e. design, architecture). The course offered a chance to stretch participants understanding and abilities of rendering materials, tints, splatters, and pigment while testing what it is to paint amongst our current, expanded realms of painting.
Building upon Alex Roberts fostering international partnerships between Germany and Dundee, this year, the painting course hosted graduating DJCAD students. In attendance Scottish painters participated with fellow internationals from South America, Europe, and East Asia.
Visiting an external academic institution to knowledge share, increase pedagogical painting networks, assess quality assurance standards and maintain international partnerships (for research staff and students). Additionally, and constructively connecting curatorial/ public engagement links surrounding painting research, i.e. underpinning networks for the European, painting inquiry, G.R.I.T. 2024.
