Description

I attended this Birmingham Economic Education Seminars (BEES) session at Aston University, featuring a keynote by Antonio Rodriguez Gil (Leeds) on experiential learning, sense of belonging, and feedback through economics games. The seminar showcased how role‑playing simulations, such as acting as the Secretary of the DWP or Chair of the Bank of England can help students connect economic theory to real‑world policy decisions, deepen understanding, and strengthen peer interaction. Survey results highlighted strong student engagement, with notable gains in learning and sense of belonging. The session also included contributions from BEES colleagues on mid‑career transitions in economics education and factors shaping students’ sense of belonging. The event provided valuable insights into innovative teaching practices, with opportunities for discussion and networking.
