Can China honour its Paris Pledges? The Role of Coal

    I was invited to give a talk at the "2020 Beijing Humboldt Forum and theme Forum: Energy and Low-Carbon Economy", which was an online Tencent Meeting involving 12 speakers from China and Europe. The issues under discussion include how to promote the rapid development of "energy and low-carbon economics", and what needs to be done to help enhance the global energy and climate governance. My talk was focused on the role of coal in China's Paris carbon reduction pledge, and what needs to be done for China to set a good example for developing countries to follow in tackling climate change.
