China’s Carbon Neutrality Target and the role of coal

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

    Description

THe IAEE organized a webinar on “From Paris to Glasgow: International Climate Agreements and Energy Transition", and I was invited as one of the three speakers to give a talk at the venue. I had focused on analysing the role of coal in China's carbon neutrality target, from both policy-making and energy security perspectives. My view was that although China's climate position has become more positive, the challenges posed by its heavy reliance on coal will remain as a major obstacle in the next couple of decades.
