Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

Description

Discussion with participants from India, South Africa, South Korea and UK on potential of a climate law in India - organised by Centre for Policy Research India.

The Centre for Policy Research (CPR) has been one of India’s leading public policy think tanks since 1973. The Centre is a non-profit, independent institution dedicated to conducting research that contributes to a more robust public discourse about the structures and processes that shape life in India.

This webinar, informed by CPR’s recent concept note, brings to light the variety of forms that climate laws have assumed around the world. We hear how different models, particularly the South African, South Korean, UK and Irish varieties, are designed to tackle climate change in ways that maximise the efficacy and efficiency of climate action in their varied contexts. By considering the features and mechanisms of creative laws around the world, this webinar seeks to inform the design of a climate law that would best suit the Indian context.
