Description

A collaborative community engagement project between the University of Dundee and the Cottage Family Centre in Kirkcaldy, Fife that brought expectant mothers together to explore their journey of motherhood using creative arts, over a 6 week programme.

The project was organised by Sushila Chowdhry in collaboration with Shabnam Wasim, Public engagement Officer

Dr Sushila Chowdhry held 6 creative workshops with expectant mothers in the ‘Bumps to Babes’ group at the Cottage Family Centre exploring pregnancy and mothering, and their changing identity.

Be Charlotte held 2 creative writing sessions exploring descriptive and expressive words, later combining these with music for song writing.

Dr Vicky Armstrong ran a participative art workshop in the Botanic Garden to explore using art making for wellbeing in a beautiful natural setting.

A final session brought everyone together for a celebration event organised by Shaban in collaboration with the Cottage Centre where the group's final song was performed by Be Charlotte. The song was also performed during Festival of the Future at the 'Light It Up' event in the Botanic Garden.
