Description
Scotland is considered a water rich nation, a fact recognised and celebrated in the Scottish Government’s vision for Scotland to become a ‘hydro nation’. However, water scarcity is becoming a growing concern. Across Scotland water availability is highly variable, in both space and time, and the demand for water is also constantly changing. In recognition of the increasing challenges posed by water scarcity, CREW has commissioned this project (CRW2022_07 ) to develop the understanding and knowledge needed to allow Scotland to move forward proactively in addressing the challenges posed by water scarcity in an informed and collaborative manor, which recognises the different stakeholder and sectoral challenges.
As part of this work, we wish to invite you to take part in a facilitated knowledge-exchange workshop which will:
Develop a shared understanding of the impacts of water scarcity across the water sector
Share knowledge on how organisations are responding to and planning for water scarcity now, and in the future
Explore what can we learn from international examples of actions to address water scarcity
Identify the barriers and knowledge gaps impeding actions on addressing water scarcity
Collectively identify priority actions to improve water scarcity resilience in Scotland
The findings from the workshop will inform a set of recommendations for the key agencies tasked with delivering measures to manage water scarcity in Scotland. These agencies will be represented at the workshop and a key aim is to provide an opportunity for stakeholders to interact with them, to identify the priorities for improving water scarcity resilience in the future.
The event will take place between the 13th and 14th November, with an online event on the afternoon of the 13th and an in person event on the 14th.
