Description
On October 4th, I had the pleasure of participating as a speaker at the event "Something new in cardiology 2024" in Serravalle Sesia. It was a special opportunity to meet colleagues and discuss the innovations that are transforming our work.
In my speech, I talked about a topic that I believe is central to the future of medicine: "personalized chronotherapy" in the management of arterial hypertension.
What does this mean in practice?
Chronotherapy is based on the concept that the time of day when a drug is taken can influence its effectiveness. Our circadian rhythms, the biological cycles of our body regulated by the alternation between day and night, play a key role in the regulation of blood pressure and, more generally, in cardiovascular health.
We are all different and our “biological clock” can influence our response to therapies. Identifying a patient's chronotype-morning or evening-could help us optimize treatment of hypertension.
