    Description

This workshop was organised as part of the the second international research network meeting in the Curating the Digital Attic Archive RSE-funded MCO research project and hosted on this occasion by project partner Artpool Art Research Center at the Museum of Fine Arts Budapest. The 2-day meeting comprised archival fieldwork for partners from Scotland, Ireland and Hungary, a research exhibition (Output) curated by Bodor with Dora Halasi (archivist), and an internationally networked hybrid workshop with expert contributions invited from Denmark, France, Germany, and The Netherlands. Co-curated by project leads Judit Bodor and Roddy Hunter, the meeting explored the advantages and risks of developing open-source infrastructure for artists archives in practice through a range of case study approaches from the respective perspectives of an artist, a theorist and a technologist. The workshop was open for invited people only. New insights from the meeting will provide the basis for the forthcoming peer-reviewed conference paper Bodor and Hunter will present at Re:generative, the 11th International Conference on the Histories of Media Art, Science and Technology, Colombia, May 2025. Documentation of the workshop will be published on the Digital Attic Archive web platform to be launched in 2025.

Participants: Dr Judit Bodor (PI) and Dr Roddy Hunter (Co-I), Caroline Brown (Archivist, University of Dundee Archives), Donna Romano (Head Librarian, National Irish Visual Arts Library, Dublin), Dóra Halasi, Júlia Klaniczay and Viktor Kotun (Artpool Art Research Center team of archivists, artists and co-founder, Budapest), Florian Cramer (artist and theorist, Rotterdam), Nils Lomholt (artist, Denmark), Lozana Rossenova (digital humanities researcher and designer, Berlin), Viktória Monhor (socially engaged multimedia artist, Budapest), Mark Waugh (consultant, strategist and former head of Art360 Foundation London, currently based in France).
