Digital Aesthetics

Description

This seminar explores digital forms of sensing and sense-making, including visual haptics, prosthetic memory, and AI perception, among others. The central question is: how do digitally produced artefacts, experiences, and relations, impact media cultures? How do they shape individual and social praxis? After a brief contextualisation of the (epistemic) role of aesthetics in the digital age, we will analyse recent examples of artistic and media-cultural practices, such as platform image processing and automated algorithmic ‘judgment’.
