Drawing as Collaboration, discovering a new language

    International artists, Robert Luzar, Andrea Stokes, and Nicole Wendel, who independently work in a collaborative manner were invited by artist and DJCAD Lecturer Alex Roberts to discuss their drawing practice. The online panel presentation with Q&A and drawing prompts, chaired by Alex, investigated the understanding of drawing as means to collaborate by identifying and discovering how drawing transcends, creates new dialogue, communication, and language.

    Drawn to Dundee. A combined event program of Online and In Person talks and workshops accompanying the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize at Cooper Gallery. DJCAD. Co-curated by artists Tania Kovats, Professor of Drawing & Making and Alex Roberts, Lecturer in Drawing, Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design at the University of Dundee with Principal Curator, Sophia Hao, Cooper Gallery.

    The aim for the program was to promote drawing and the TBWDP21 at the Cooper Gallery and the cross disciplinary character of drawing, and how drawing encourages dialogue and engagement. Additionally, proposing that all events within this curated program generate drawing. Each participant in these panels/ events were asked to supply a Drawing Prompt which were compiled into an online, downloadable set of stimuli for anyone to use. Resulting, the inclusivity and accessibility of drawing, and via online means. Encouraging contributors in all forms to make drawings – “to think, empathise, test, share and learn, through drawing”.
