Drawing from the human figure is the cornerstone of many artists’ work and overlaps with the surface anatomy teaching students undertake at RCSI. Life drawing is a fantastic way to increase your observational skills and sketching abilities using simple implements. In this workshop you will draw from life models using Conté crayons on paper, building a series of sketches throughout the session. We will look at how light and shade, and the ‘negative space’ around the model can be used to help us describe and record what we see. Materials are provided.

The national Creative Arts Summer School will take place from the 9th to 19th June 2026. Dublin CASS will take place for 8 days between Tuesday 9th to Friday 19 June 2026. Cork: MTU Crawford College of Art and Design will host CASS on Wednesday 17 June. The Creative Arts Summer School is FREE. All course materials and lunch will be provided. Supported by the Department of Education and Skills and the HEA through the Programme for Access to Higher Education (PATH) fund. The Creative Arts Summer School is a collaboration between the National College of Art and Design (Project Lead), Trinity College Dublin, Marino Institute of Education, University College Dublin, the Institute of Art, Design and Technology, RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, TU Dublin School of Art & Design and MTU Crawford College of Art and Design, Cork. You will have the opportunity to participate in a dynamic programme that will include a range of explorative creative arts workshops, campus tours, admission pathways, creative course options, academic, financial, disability and learning supports and guidance on creative career opportunities. Workshops will be led by experienced creative arts lecturers from across the participating colleges and you will meet access student ambassadors who will talk about their own creative journeys to higher education. The Creative Arts Summer School is FREE.
