    Description

    In 2024/25, the University of Dundee Disability Services ran a series of
    Generative AI group training sessions for students exploring its potential
    to support study skills such as exam revision, proofreading and note
    taking. 59 disabled students participated, and their perspectives were
    gathered via survey data. This presentation will explore the outcomes of
    this project: disabled student use of Generative AI, their perspectives on
    training and their fears about using this technology at university. Can it
    and should it be used as an assistive technology?

    However, implementing such training in Higher Education doesn't come
    without its challenges. The presentation will offer a realistic perspective on
    navigating the ethical concerns and institutional barriers associated with
    Generative AI, and reflections on how other educational institutions could
    approach this in a responsible manner.
