Design practice has spread its domain of activities into wider fields, where the value of the process is equally important to stimulating the innovation of new products and services. This 59 Minute Design Challenge (59MDC) will provide you with a hands-on introduction to Design Thinking as an approach for creative problem-solving. You will gain some insights into how Design Thinking is being used by designers and non-design professionals to drive forward ingenuity and innovation in business practices. You will leave the workshop with an introduction to Design Thinking and an appreciation of design led methods to help rethink and reframe problems.
Fraser Bruce is a senior design academic at the University of Dundee with over 25 years of teaching, research, and consultancy experience. He is currently the Programme Director for both the MSc Product Design and MSc Design for Business courses where he delivers specialist lectures and workshops on Design Thinking, service design and innovation. His research interests lie in design-led innovation of products and services through nature inspired systems thinking.
Sharifa Latter is the Co-Head for Undergraduate Design Programmes at the University of Dundee. Her industry experience in business and marketing includes positions held in account management, project, and campaign management for international brands in various industries. Her research in this field focuses on design leadership, innovation management, entrepreneurial design, and organisational change.

Her academic credentials in Design (MSc in Design for Business and Bachelors with Honours in Design) underpin her deep respect and knowledge of her discipline. As programme manager, Lee brings a designer's empathy and attention to detail that means your experience with us will be brilliant.
