Extractive Industries Source Book Project

    Activity: Consultancy typesConsultancy

    Description

Knowledge of oil, gas and mining for Development. The transformative character of knowledge sharing in this area is often overshadowed by the spectre of the so-called ‘resource curse’. CEPMLP is combating this in two ways. Firstly, it is coordinating the Extractive Industries Source Book project, funded by a grant from the World Bank. This is an online resource (www.eisourcebook.org) and will appear as a book in 2014. It covers knowledge creation and sharing in five key areas: legal and policy frameworks; sector organization; fiscal design; revenue management and sustainable development. In each of these areas the decisive keys for success lie in an optimal design and management of institutions appropriate to the local context. Peter is the lead for this project and the related publication. Secondly, to take this knowledge sharing into the field CEPMLP is carrying out a number of on-site interventions in the form of workshops and seminars in Africa, Central Asia and South America. Peter contributes to these knowledge sharing events.
