Festival of the Future 2022: The University of Dundee's flagship festival programme that celebrates and enhances collaboration between science, art, and culture. in 2022 the main festival was sited and hosted in the University of Dundee Botanic Garden. Festival of the Future is the University of Dundee’s flagship festival programme that celebrates and enhances collaboration between science, arts, and culture.A highlight of the festival this year will be Over the Garden Wall, our promenade performance experience inspired by Dundee’s Botanic Gardens, which is not to be missed. You will literally see the gardens in a whole new light.

This year Sustainable Dundee will join us at our Sustainability Hub at the Botanic Garden for the duration of Festival of the Future. Pop in and find out more about what we can all do to make a difference. Sustainable Dundee is a partnership of organisations working together to tackle the Climate Emergency by supporting low-carbon living and enhancing nature to help the City achieve its target of Net Zero Greenhouse Gas emissions before 2045.

This was the first year, post COVID-19, that the festival will be enjoyed again in person. We will be doing everything we can to keep you safe at these events and we are very much looking forward to seeing you at some point during the festival.

In 2022 our festival explored themes around sharing experiences, connecting with nature, health and wellbeing, and celebrating and protecting our spaces and places. During the festival in October 2022 we engaged with 1768 members of the public of all ages from Dundee and beyond of those who attended events 98% said they would attend again more participants attended in 2022 than in any other year that the festival has taken place. The demand for our activities and the reputation the festival has developed has meant that we see year on year more people engaging and participating in festival activities.
