Girls Into Engineering

Description

16 primary 6 pupils (10-ish years old) from Victoria Park Primary School attended an activity session on different area of engineering. This was composed of five sessions run under the banner 'Girls Into Engineering', in collaboration with Jill Duke's Empowerment Academy. It aimed to engage with and inspire girls at this formative age when enthusiasm and confidence in the sciences tends to wane.
Sessions included:
-Civil Engineering (coloured cement casting)
-Biomedical Engineering (prosthetic hands)
-Mechanical Engineering (simple machines)
-visit to the Simulation Centre at the University of St Andrews
-Civil Engineering (with guest engineer from Balfour Beatty)
