Description
This is part of a series of Discussion Seminars – St Andrews Centre for Exoplanet Science This talk recounts the biggest ‘fake news’ story of the nineteenth-century, the Great Moon Hoax of 1835, a pioneering science fiction in more ways than one. It also considers the hoax as a satire of Creationist astronomy and its legacy in the themes and techniques of ‘lost’ Scottish-American SF writer, Robert Duncan Milne. Both live and online.
