Description
Fatemeh’s talk focused on her PhD research which explores inclusive participation in planning practice, addressing long-standing critiques of exclusion based on demographics, socioeconomic status, and cultural, historical, and geographical contexts. Her work examines how certain voices are valued while others remain unheard, leading to urban spaces that do not serve everyone equitably. Rather than advocating for a one-size-fits-all approach to inclusion, her research investigates how people’s complex and intersectional positionalities, lived experiences, and situated knowledge can shape more inclusive planning processes. Her research examines co-design practices with local communities in Scotland, she seeks to uncover pathways for more inclusive participation in planning practice.
