Description
This panel will bring together academics, civil servants and civil society to discuss
the wide range of international law and human rights issues related to continued
detention operations in Guantánamo Bay. Scotland's increasingly strong voice in the
promotion of human rights and the rule of law has the potential to set a strategic
platform to guard against further regression in international legal protections.
Panel Members: Dr Kasey McCall-Smith (University of Edinburgh), Dr Mitch
Robinson (Pentagon), Mr Paul McKell (Foreign & Commonwealth Office), Dr Andrea
Birdsall (University of Edinburgh), Dr Jacques Hartman (University of Dundee); Ms
Naomi McAuliffe (Amnesty Scotland)
