Description
I hosted two visiting academics, Jonathan Impett and Juan Parra Cancino, from the Orpheus Institute in Ghent, Belgium, one of Europe's leading research centres for advanced study in music and composition. As part of this visit, I organised a research seminar hosted by the Creative and Cultural Connections research priority, where Impett and Cancino presented from current research projects. Impett's presentation was titled 'Technicity, interaction, AI, and intuitive technology' and Cancino's presentation was titled 'Interpretation and new performativity in early fixed-media electronic music'.I also hosted a day-long PhD training workshop hosted by the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities titled Thinking Sound with Generative AI. Impett and Cancino were joined by visiting workshop leaders Jung In Jung (Abertay) and Lynda Clarke (Edinburgh Futures Institute, University of Edinburgh).
Finally, I organised a public concert where Impett, Cancino, Jung and Clarke performed recent work, hosted by the independent sound and image event series Wet Tech and held at the Chaplaincy on the University of Dundee campus
