    In this presentation, I traced the evolution of the normative basis of global mining and minerals governance on the basis of core UN instruments. I also suggested a few thematic issues to be considered in potential discussions on a regional governnance regime and pointed at the need for the region to participate actively in global governance processes. These are crucially important matters in the face of the crucial role of minerals in the energy transition.
