Activity: Other activity typesFunding - grants and income which support research related activities

Description

Outline summary
The Leonard Cheshire (LC) Technology Team have identified that health analytics (telecare and telehealth) technologies may be useful in supporting the independence of service users when integrated with assistive technology control systems and environmental control systems. The LC services operations teams wish to explore the potential for health analytics to provide LC staff members with useful information that indicates that service users may need support. Metrics such as electrical power use, water use, environmental control inputs such as opening and closing of doors, fridges, cupboards can be aggregated to understand what typical use looks like. Once a baseline is established it is expected that alerts to LC staff can be triggered when the inputs move outside of the typical use range. Alerts may be followed up on by supporting staff to ensure service user comfort and safety. The intention is for health analytics to be as non-invasive as possible and for it to be integrated into existing systems such as assistive technology control systems and environmental control systems. The primary purpose of the work is to ensure independence, wellbeing and enjoyment of life by LC service users residing at various LC services.
