Description
This presentation examined how structured, pedagogically guided AI interventions can enhance student‑centred active learning by improving engagement, confidence, and key academic skills across economics and business modules. Drawing on multi‑year data and a mixed‑methods design, the study compared pre‑AI, unguided AI use, and structured AI intervention periods, revealing that AI alone does not improve performance; instead, engagement acts as the critical mediating factor. The findings show that well‑designed AI activities such as pre‑lecture brainstorming, real‑time chatbot support, and AI‑guided data analysis significantly increase independent study hours, attendance, and students’ willingness to participate, with positive effects on problem‑solving, critical thinking, and communication. The session highlighted the need for discipline‑specific, structured AI integration and emphasised that AI should complement rather than replace students’ cognitive processes, offering evidence‑based insights for educators seeking to adopt AI responsibly and effectively in active learning environments| Period | 15 Jul 2025 |
