Medical Research Scotland’s in-person Meet the Researcher Showcase held at University of Strathclyde’s Technology and Innovation Centre, brought together S4, S5, and S6 pupils from Scottish high schools who were interested in science or considering STEM subjects in higher education.
The day began with career talks offering students valuable insights into careers in medical science and research. Pupils then met researchers at every level of their career paths, from research students to professors, from top Scottish universities and take part in hands-on, interactive science activities designed to put their scientific thinking to the test. Neema, a fourth year MRS-funded PhD student in Dr Mahima Swamy's lab in the MRC Protein Phosphorylation and Ubiquitylation Unit presented a poster 'Beyond the gluten-free life in celiac disease: Could PIM kinases be the game changer?'
