Description

"The Mobile Museum's goal is to generate new insights possibilities; and appreciation for artist's roles in interpreting information. The Mobile Museum recognizes museums as valuable structures for learning about the world around us and utilizes artists for guides in interpretation of that structure. It was born from the interest

in collecting and why people collect."

This was the first of an ambitious series of international events that will provide students, educators and researchers with an annual design event focused on environments, context and cultural exchange. Mobile Museum was a collaboration between Interior Design / Interior Architecture programmes from DJCAD Dundee, Scotland, SIVA Shanghai, China and the College of Architecture, University of Oklahoma. The objective of the workshop was to bring alternative pedagogies and practices together in a pilot event hosted by DJCAD, University of Dundee and to invite academics and intercultural student teams to explore new museum forms through of ‘pop-up’, ‘mobile’ and 'micro' museum concepts that responds to the excitement generated by the V&A at Dundee waterfront development.
