Moonshoot Thinking for the World’s Hardest Problems: Scotland Net Zero or Beyond by 2031

Activity: Other activity typesPublic engagement and outreach - public lecture/debate/seminar

Description

Throughout the course of history, we’ve seen that when people set their minds to wildly ambitious goals, the seemingly impossible starts to become possible. Moonshot thinking is about just that — pursuing things that sound undoable, but if done, could redefine humanity. We are living in a planetary emergency. Our actions in the coming years will transform the fate of our planet more completely than any other time in human history, and incremental approaches to control this crisis are failing. By the end of this decade, science, policy, and industry must cooperate in unprecedented ways to drive radical technological and social progress, at scales many orders of magnitude larger and faster than any other time in history. Transitioning to net-zero emissions will be our first truly planetary-wide effort - climate change is our generations moonshot. Within this fast paced and interactive 45-minute workshop we are going to use the moonshoot canvas template and work in groups to facilitate conversations about radical change and bold ambitions focusing on citizen science, technology and radical social innovation.
