Multi-agency working for Inclusive Oral Health. The use of co-produced workshops on health promotion as a tool to engage with stigmatized groups (workshop).

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

Project Background and description:
This workshop was based on the findings from the research project “Oral Health/Health Promotion and Homelessness: building ways to transform lives” led by Andrea Rodriguez under the Smile4life program. This research experience used elements of Freire’s Critical Pedagogy through a participatory multi-agency process to engage with other health bodies and NGOs addressing health and social inequalities for vulnerable groups. The project aimed to strengthen the creation of interdisciplinary team working strategies between health and social sectors through the co-designing and delivery of a tailored series of workshops on health promotion and citizenship that could be addressed to diverse audiences.

Workshop learning outcomes:
By the end of this workshop, you will:
1. Have an increased understanding of the importance of participatory multi-agency work between health boards and NGOs to address oral health in community settings.
2. Be aware of co-produced workshops to approach service providers and users and encourage health behaviour change.
