Description
This workshop aimed to explore the need to find creative ways to approach homeless service users to discuss oral health linked with wider health topics of their homelessness journey. It is based on the research experience using elements of co-production through a participatory multi-agency process to engage with health bodies and NGOs to address health and social inequalities for vulnerable groups.Workshop Agenda:
Part 1 – Inclusive dentistry and the evidence-base of Smile4life project. (10 min)
Part 2 – Trust building and social engaging with service users. How to reach difficult
audiences using creative approaches to discuss and encourage health behaviour change. (20 min)
Part 3 – Let’s talk about oral health…and it is not just teeth! (30 min)
Learning outcomes
1 – to know the based-evidence of Smile4life
2- To know creative tools to engage with service users and the basic steps to planning health sessions with a participatory approach
3 – To be more familiar with the links between oral health and general health and wellbeing of vulnerable groups
