Picture Hooks Mentoring Programme & Exhibition’ 2014 / 16 Scottish National Galleries October 2014 – February 2016 Invited mentor to Catherine Lindow, one of five aspiring children’s book illustrators selected for the Picturehooks Mentoring Programme funded by Creative Scotland. The scheme, in it’s second year, provides it’s mentees with one to one professional guidance by professional mentors (Mick Manning & Britta Granström (joint mentor), Nick Sharratt, Debi Gliori, Cate James and myself) and the opportunity to exhibit work created over the mentoring year within a high profile group show the National Galleries of Scotland. All mentors on the scheme are required to display new Illustrative work along side their Mentees outcomes within the Picturehooks exhibition. The exhibition previewed in October 2015 and ran until February 2016 and has proved more successful than the first (2014 / 2015) attracting over 100,000 visitors. The exhibition and related events (conference, talks and workshops) aim to provide visitors and participating audiences with an insight into the field of children’s publishing from a variety of professional / non-professional standpoints. The exhibition including both Mentors and Mentees work toured Scottish venues including MacRobert Arts Centre in Stirling (July – August) and Gracefield Arts Centre in Dumfries (November - January)
