Designing a toolkit to make healthcare environmentally sustainable

Outline of session:
Design HOPES is a research project that utilises the potential of design-led thinking and making to innovate and tackle complex healthcare challenges to meet urgent environmental goals for a sustainable health and social care systems.

Recognising that health professionals are the stewards of the NHS resources, one project within the programme – The Green Ward Toolkit – aims to understand and develop innovative and design-led tools to enable secondary care teams to rapidly reduce the environmental impact of healthcare.

Within this workshop we explored sustainable themes pertinent to the delivery of healthcare through a design approach, share experiences of improving sustainable practices to help shape the development of the Green Ward toolkit.
