The Queen's Anniversary Prizes celebrate excellence, innovation and public benefit in work carried out by UK colleges and universities. They are run by the Royal Anniversary Trust, an independent charity. I am an invited member of a national Readers Panel that assesses applications from higher and further education establishments. The Prize scheme sits with the UK honours system and winners receive a certificate of achievement signed by The Queen and a medal which is presented at Buckingham Palace on behalf of Her Majesty by a senior royal as well as a celebratory dinner the evening before.
