Royal Society of Edinburgh Post Covid-19 Futures Commission Public Debate and Participation Working Group’s First Hack: How can we tackle the spread of “fake news” and build public knowledge and trust in sound science?

Activity: Participating in or organising an event typesParticipation in workshop, seminar, course

    Description

The idea of the hack is to create space for hack participants to come together to generate ideas around a topic that is presented as a problem question. Since the Royal Society of Edinburgh's working group is focused on the topic of public debate and participation, they have asked invited participants to explore ideas that help solve challenges we face in the realm of public debate and participation in our society. The coronavirus pandemic is the backdrop for the problem question which is:

How can we tackle the spread of “fake news” and build public knowledge and trust in sound science?

The aim is to explore ideas to bring something new, novel, reworked, or repositioned into existence.

I participated in the group discussing the structures for sharing and spreading knowledge.
