    Description

Based on our observation in the SBA survey for overwintering of honeybees in Scotland, these authors assess whether the observed difference in east v west survival rates correlates with foraging on oilseed rape (OSR). Using historical data not previously analysed in this way, they find a 2-fold increase in overwintering failures when colonies had foraged on OSR. This was true for all years on which they held data: 2006-7, 2007-8 and 2010-11.
