Annual training event for the Oral Health Improvement Programmes for Adults in ScotlandDescription: A series of interactive sessions delivered in-person through lectures, discussions, and workshops.
Aim: To equip attendees with up-to-date knowledge on oral health improvement for adults in Scotland.
After this session attendees will be able to: 1. Describe what a Trauma Informed Approach is, and how some patients (especially those experiencing problematic drug use) may benefit from this approach. 2. Describe good practice examples of applying a Trauma Informed Approach to this patient group in a clinical setting. 3. Describe the major factors influencing oral health amongst people who use substances. 4. Describe key intervention strategies to promote improved oral health for people who use substances, and be able to reflect on the implications of these strategies within the context of their own professional practice. 5. Describe the challenges and opportunities of rebranding the adult OHI programmes and how these can be overcome or harnessed to benefit the programmes 6. Describe the experience of working with dental priority groups and how the national programmes can best support OHI teams in this role 7. Describe the approach to monitoring of programme activity for 24/25 and discuss the future of data collection and reporting. 8. Describe the approach to logic modelling for the adult programmes and discuss the next steps in the process to finalising the models 9. Describe social prescribing and social prescribing pathways for vulnerable groups.
