Tales of the Tweed - 1-16 September 2013 A storytelling journey along the River Tweed

Activity: Other activity typesPublic engagement and outreach - festival/exhibition

    Description

Professor Spray presented two 'stories' to the international festival as part of a 'Tales of the Tweed' session at the International Storytelling festival. One as a research scientist (researching natural flood management and habitat restoration on the Tweed), the other a personal one as a Swan enthusiast and international swan expert. He was one of three people with specialist knowledge of rivers and the River Tweed in particular who were chosen to participate in this unique storytelling event. Sophia Collins and family walked the length of the river Tweed in September 2013, stopping to bring together specialists and locals to share their experience and knowledge of the river. You can read more about it here: http://talesfromthetweed.beltanenetwork.org/ The format of the event involved Professor Spray sharing two short stories about his experiences of the river Tweed, around his two areas of expertise with the use of selected 'props' to entertain and inform the audience, followed by an open discussion chaired by Sophia.
