Description
A key element of the research and teaching activities within Dundee University’s Discipline of Computing is the close engagement with users, in particular user groups who face challenges when accessing mainstream IT technology, e.g. older people or individuals with physical or other impairments. In this lecture Rolf will report on the setting up and running of a user group for people with aphasia at the University of Dundee, Scotland. The group meets on a regular basis to explore the possibilities for using iPads and the vast range of mainstream apps for supporting users beyond AAC applications. He will discuss the challenges met and reflect on the choice of platform (iPad) and its alternatives.
