Description
Since 2020, the Big Back Garden project has been undertaking a series of activities—archival research, local residents’ audio narrations of park events, a geo-tagged on-site/virtual tour, and artistic interpretations of Baxter Park, Dundee—in order to explore the park’s history and visitors’ relationship to public green spaces. The project website can be found here: https://www.bigbackgarden.com/. These activities are part of research exploring how we can learn about parks and wellbeing, to make research publicly accessible and to see parks from a fresh perspective. The importance of accessible public spaces has been increasingly highlighted as a key priority since the COVID-19 pandemic and the introduction of social distancing. The Institute for Social Sciences Research, University of Dundee, has provided funding to produce a short film and accompanying pamphlet, in order to facilitate further public engagement and future collaborations in relation to teh importance of green spaces.
