Description
Fatemeh’s talk explored the role of ‘Point of View’ and ‘Perspective’ in her research on understanding inclusive participation in planning practice and how diverse backgrounds and lived experiences shape perceptions of space and influence planning decisions. She highlighted how power dynamics often privilege certain perspectives while others are underrepresented, particularly in urban planning. Using Scottish case studies, she examined the role of co-design in participatory planning, questioning how to move beyond tokenistic inclusion to ensure that all voices—especially those of underrepresented groups—genuinely shape the cities we live in.
