Webinar - Citation misconduct: helping authors keep their papers clean

Activity: Talk or presentation typesInvited talk

Description

During this webinar hosted by ChronosHub, an American Chemical Society subsidary, the speakers explored issues around citation misconduct, where manuscripts are submitted with non-relevant, fake, or incorrect citations, and discuss what authors and other stakeholders can do to make sure their citations are correct and relevant. How should authors proceed if reviewers ask them to add citations that are not relevant? Who should authors address? What roles do editors play? What role institutions can play in this; and how should publishers should verify citations - not just for their completeness but also for their relevance. And they wanted to hear what if any technology solutions are out there that can help with this!

- Inke Näthke: Professor and Research Integrity lead at University of Dundee
- Nick Morley: Co-founder at Grounded AI
