Activity: Other activity typesPublic engagement and outreach - public lecture/debate/seminar

    Description

To mark International Women's Day, this webinar was jointly organised by the British Council, Science Media Centre Malaysia and The Petri Dish and aimed at featuring female role models in STEM, as well as highlighting opportunities from STEM education and careers.

During the webinar the following was discussed:
    · Sharing experience and challenges faced by women and girls in pursuing post-graduate studies in STEM
    · Discussing how a post-graduate degree adds value to STEM careers
    · Explore enablers to empower women and girls to pursue their passion in STEM and inspire future generations of women to pursue post-graduate studies, including the unique support from the British Council’s Women in STEM scholarship.

Their goal was to build awareness around the broad array of career opportunities in STEM available to women and girls who are passionate about this field, hence we would like to have panellists who are able to inspire young women in STEM.

Professor Kim Dale was a member of the discussion panel alongside Wei Vern Hor, Engineering Analyst for PETRONAS; Dr Chai Lay Ching, winner of L'Oreal-UNESCO Women in Science 2018 and Dr Nurfadhlina Mohd Sharef, Universiti Putra Malaysia
