Activity: Membership types › Membership of external research organisation
Description
YAS delivers projects to help Scotland’s people and policy-makers build a future that is equal, enterprising, sustainable, healthier, smarter and international. By sharing our expertise and research, we investigate pressing social issues, inform public debate, amplify marginalised voices, and drive transformational change.
We currently have 134 members, who range in age from mid-twenties to early forties. Members are selected by application and remain for a period of five years.
Within the bounds of our membership criteria, YAS seeks to maximise the diversity of its membership. In particular, we emphasise the importance of a breadth of regional, disciplinary and gender representation. YAS is uniquely interdisciplinary, with members coming from all areas of academia, business, third sector organisations and public life.
We are part of a growing global network of Young Academies, and we regularly engage with our worldwide sister young academies to share knowledge, support one another, and work on international projects.
