COP27: World leaders warned planet is 'doomed' if political differences can't be put aside for UN climate summit

Press/Media: Research

Description

It was a piece that I worked together with the UoD Press Office and the Scotsman’s environment correspondent. Within which I warned about the potential consequences of political leaders failing to work together at the forthcoming COP27 summit in Egypt. Divisions brought about by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as well as tensions between China and the US over Taiwan, are cited as potential stumbling blocks that could prevent a deal being reached at the key climate summit. As well as appearing on the front page, the story carries over inside and is the subject of an editorial comment.
