Agathe LERMANT holds a Master degree in Biotechnology from the engineering school Sup’Biotech in Paris, France, completed by a University degree in valorization of applied research and biomedical innovation from University Pierre and Marie Curie. Passionate about developing advanced in vitro models for research, her Master project consisted in engineering micro-fabricated channels to study immune cell migration. She led this project in the 4Dcell company in collaboration with the Institut Pierre-Gilles de Gennes. She also actively participated in the international competition of synthetic biology iGEM in 2017.

She started her PhD at the University of Dundee in October 2018, as part of the European Union Horizon 2020 programme iPlacenta coordinated by Dr. Colin MURDOCH. Her project focuses on developping novel cells models of the placenta to mimic associated pathologies, including preeclampsia and intra uterine growth restriction, focusing on angiogenesis signalling and oxidative stress markers.
