Biography

Alexia is a Lecturer in the School of Education and Social Work. She currently teaches on the MA (Hons) and MEd programmes. 

Alexia works at the intersection of psychology and education, and in particular outdoor learning and the human-nature interactions in educational settings. She is currently exploring how different experiences and pedagogical approaches can promote (or hinder) nature connectedness in children in the early years and beyond. She is also interested in the promotion of mental health and wellbeing across the life span, through interactions with the natural world.   

Alexia’s other research interests include:

Mental health and wellbeing through human-nature interactions

Nature connectedness in education

Research-informed education practice

Interplay between academic research and teacher practice

 

Alexia is a Consulting Editor for the International Journal of Early Childhood Environmental Education.
