Teaching

Module leader/designer (with Dr Caroline Erolin) for the new 12-week undergraduate elective module Scientific Illustration & Visualisation to begin in October 2020.

Prior to this for three semesters between 2015 -2017 I wrote and taught the Virtual Reality Modelling for archaeology module at the University of York which involved both lecturing and practical workshops. Additionally, I also lectured on the core Analysis and Visualisation course.

 

Biography

Dr Alice Watterson is an archaeologist and digital artist based at the University of Dundee, Scotland where she currently works as a lecturer and post-doctoral research assistant with the 3DVisLab. Her research explores the use of archaeological reconstruction and mixed media as an interpretive tool for engaging multivocal public outreach. Her interdisciplinary background facilitates her outreach and communication work by allowing her to efficiently negotiate the space between the specialist insights of archaeologists and the general public.

She has a wide range of skills within the remit of archaeological visualisation including technical illustration, digital data capture and processing, 3D modelling, animation, visual effects, interactive environments and filmmaking. Combining her roles as a practice-based researcher and freelance artist Alice has 10 years of experience in project leadership and management of commissions for a range of clients.
