Dr Atiqur Rahman is a Lecturer in Public Health department at the University of Dundee. He studied Anthropology (MSS) at Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh, and an MCSW degree in Clinical Social Work at University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He also obtained a post-master’s degree in Smart Community Design and Management from University of Trento, Italy. He spent a year working as a researcher at University of New England, Australia and a year at York University, Canada.
Dr Rahman completed his PhD as a Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow in 2023 in Ageing and Social Change from Linköping University, Sweden. His doctoral research focused on care for people living with dementia and was funded by the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme EuroAgeism.
Dr Atiqur Rahman is a trained anthropologist with research interests at the intersection of public health and social gerontology. He is a mixed methods researcher, using both qualitative and quantitative methods. Additionally, he has experience doing different types of literature reviews, including systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and realist synthesis.
Primary research interests:
Currently, Dr Rahman is teaching and co-leading two modules (1) public health and (2) research methods at the postgraduate level. He is also supervising MPH dissertation students.
