Personal profile

Biography

I joined Dundee Law School as a Lecturer in August 2023, with a primary interest in Scots criminal law, and Scottish criminal procedure.

I graduated from the University of Dundee with an LL.B degree in Scots Law in June 2017, having achieved First Class Honours. I then undertook a period of Masters study at the University of Aberdeen. I graduated from Aberdeen with an LL.M. degree with Distinction, having specialised in Criminal Justice.

Outside of academia, I have undertaken roles with a number of criminal justice partners. These include the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service, British Transport Police and Police Scotland.

Teaching

Research

I am currently undertaking doctoral studies alongside my work within Dundee Law School. This project is considering the role which victim forgiveness should play within Scotland's criminal justice processes - namely, in prosecutorial decision-making, sentencing, and parole decisions. While the project acknowledges the overarching public interest that exists within the criminal justice system, it also argues that public interest can be compatible with the interests of victims such that both interests can be secured.

This project is being completed under the supervision of Professor Pamela Ferguson.
